CULTURAL CENTER – Crvenka

CULTURAL CENTER – Crvenka

The Cultural Center was built in 1945 through the voluntary work of the town’s residents. Since its founding, several sections have operated within the Center: the drama section (for adults and children), the folklore section, and the literary and visual arts sections.

The drama section is the most active and most awarded, and the Cultural Center hosts the Regional Festival of Dramatic Arts for adults and children from the West Bačka region, covering 15 municipalities. The visual arts colony Panon is also highly successful. For more than 25 years, the literary club Krčevine has been thriving, with members including writers from Vojvodina and Serbia. Together with the Cultural Center, the Krčevine Literary Club has hosted the children’s poetry festival ”Bulka” for 10 years. The Center also houses the amateur theater ”Stevan Sremac”. Since 1998, the Cultural Center has successfully operated a cinema.

Throughout the calendar year, the Cultural Center hosts a wide range of cultural events in its hall and rooms: art and book exhibitions, literary meetings, concerts of popular and classical music, professional theater performances for adults and children, public forums, school and preschool events, book promotions, local community meetings, amateur rehearsals, and more.

”Stevan Sremac” Theatre

Founded in 1946 by merging two theater groups, Jovan Sterija Popović and Žikica Jovanović Španac, which were associated with the local sugar factory and the town itself, the theater premiered the play ”Dva Cvancika” on October 15 of the same year. Since its founding, the theater has operated continuously, preparing one to two premieres each season. Over the years, many actors, directors, set designers, costume designers, choreographers, and other collaborators have been part of this theater.
