Srbobran

Srbobran is a picturesque municipality in Bačka, situated in the central part of Vojvodina, along an important route connecting Novi Sad, Subotica and Budapest, as well as on the banks of the Great Bačka Canal. The oldest written record of the settlement dates back to 1338, when it was mentioned under the name Sentomaš, while it acquired its present name in memory of the struggles of 1848. Its location along the Danube–Tisa–Danube Canal and its proximity to major road routes make Srbobran an appealing destination for excursion, nautical and recreational tourism. Culture enthusiasts are drawn to the Serbian Orthodox church with its valuable iconostasis, created by Novak Radonić, as well as the Monument to Freedom in the town centre, a work by sculptor Stevan Bondarov. The natural surroundings of the Krivaja River, the canals and the surrounding flatland landscapes offer opportunities for fishing, hunting and enjoying nature. A special place in the tourist offering is held by Turija, where the famous Kobasicijada is held every year, one of the best-known gastronomic and entertainment events in Serbia. Today, Srbobran is a pleasant destination that brings together a rich history, a flatland landscape, cultural heritage and authentic Vojvodina cuisine.
