Novi Bečej, located on the banks of the Tisa River in the flatlands of Banat, is a destination where rich history, nature and a diverse range of cultural attractions come together. The first written records of the settlement date back to the 14th century, while the turbulent history of the area has left numerous traces of different periods and cultures. Of particular significance is Arača, the remains of a 14th-century medieval basilica and one of the most important monuments of Romanesque architecture in Serbia. The Tisa River, its landscaped riverfront, hunting grounds, the Sokolac picnic area and the natural landscapes along the water offer excellent opportunities for relaxation, fishing, recreation and enjoying the outdoors. Novi Bečej is known for its vibrant cultural life and numerous events, among which the traditional ”Velikogospojinski Dani” festival holds a special place. Held at the end of August, it attracts numerous visitors with music, gastronomy and the traditions of the area. A variety of events, art colonies and occasions such as the equestrian parade in Vranjevo further enrich the municipality’s tourist offer. With its hospitality, multicultural heritage and unique combination of river, plain and cultural heritage, Novi Bečej is one of the distinctive destinations for discovering the beauty of Vojvodina.
