BAKAJIN GALLERY–ATELIER – Sremski Karlovci

The Bakajin Gallery-Atelier is located in the small town of Sremski Karlovci, the centre of the Eparchy of Srem, surrounded by monasteries on Fruška Gora. It is the home of the “Orfelin” Association of Visual Artists. The gallery consists of three rooms housing works by Milivoj Bakajin, a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Vojvodina and president of the “Orfelin” Association. Together, these works form a permanent exhibition of around 150 pieces. Critics have described the exhibition as having a profound spiritual quality and a strong sense of local identity, reflecting a continuity spanning fifty years. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the courtyard area of the gallery is intended for exhibitions by artists selected by the selection committee of the “Orfelin” Association. The courtyard provides gallery space for around one hundred works and can also accommodate thematic lectures. A conference dedicated to tourism and art would be particularly suitable. The courtyard is situated in a beautiful natural setting overlooking the Danube. It also contains a space where visitors can refresh themselves with fine Karlovci wines and sample the local sweet speciality, kuglof.
