Vrbas is a town in the heart of Bačka, with a history stretching far back into the past, as evidenced by archaeological finds dating from the Bronze Age, as well as traces of Roman, Slavic and other cultures. The first written mention of Vrbas dates back to 1387, confirming its long historical tradition. Over the centuries, different peoples lived alongside one another and came into contact here, including Serbs, Rusyns, Germans and Hungarians, making the cultural heritage of the municipality particularly diverse. Thanks to its location along important road, railway and waterways, Vrbas is a significant transport hub and has potential for the development of transit tourism.
