NATURE EXCURSIONS – Odžaci

NATURE EXCURSIONS – Odžaci

The endless plain, intersected by canals, lakes, and marshes, is ideal for walking and spending time in nature. Bogojevski Rit represents the natural continuation of the protected area  Gornje Podunavlje Special Nature Reserve, forming with it a unique ecological complex. It includes a well-preserved system of aquatic and wetland ecosystems that have retained their originality and native character.

Within this area are Papić Lake, Zadružna Bara, Holcer Bara, and Crna Bara. The system of ponds is connected by surrounding wetland vegetation (reeds and sedges), groves of white willow and white poplar, and a network of drainage canals. A significant number of protected plant and animal species have been recorded, as well as valuable natural features such as yellow water lily, white water lily, water chestnut, purple heron, ferruginous duck, and European pond turtle. Numerous rare relict species also indicate the high level of preservation of this wetland ecosystem, which is a remnant of the former Danube floodplains. This landscape is suitable for various recreational activities, ecology lessons, photography, or simply enjoying nature. The untouched scenery of this area will leave you breathless.

Cycling Route “EuroVelo 6”

In addition to being connected by the Danube, each of these natural areas is also linked by a cycling route. The trans-European cycling route “EuroVelo 6”, running from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea, also passes through the municipality of Odžaci, crossing its most beautiful landscapes.

In addition to experiencing the natural beauty of this vast plain, visitors also have the opportunity to experience Odžaci in an authentic local way, with traditional cuisine, tamburitza music, evening entertainment, and local events.
