The Historical Archive in Pančevo is responsible for the protection of movable cultural heritage, as well as the collection, processing, organization, and preservation of archival materials within the city of Pančevo and the municipalities of Kovin, Alibunar, Opovo, and Kovačica. In addition to research activities conducted with visitors in the library, the Archive also engages in publishing. One of the Archive’s missions is to make archival materials—classified as cultural heritage of exceptional and great importance—more accessible, available, and transparent in the future. This is being pursued through the further digitization of important archival holdings.
The Archive holds 827 collections and fonds, totaling 8,840 meters of material, spanning from the early 18th century to the end of the 20th century.
The Archive is organized as a unified service, performing tasks related to the processing and protection of archival materials and registry documents, the management of storage facilities, cultural and educational activities, research work, library services, and publishing.
