Bač, one of the oldest towns in Vojvodina, after which the entire Bačka region was named, represents a destination of exceptional historical and cultural significance. Located on the banks of the Danube, with a rich history dating back from ancient times to the Middle Ages, Bač preserves traces of various civilisations that have shaped its identity. The greatest attraction is the medieval Bač Fortress, a unique fortification whose remains bear witness to the town’s former importance as a significant political and trading centre. Visitors can also explore its religious heritage through the Franciscan Monastery in Bač and the Bođani Monastery, located only a few kilometres from the town and renowned for its artistic value. The natural surroundings along the Danube, the canals of the Danube–Tisa–Danube Canal System, and the vast flatland landscapes provide opportunities for excursions, cycling, nature observation, and enjoying the authentic atmosphere of Bačka. As a multicultural community with a rich heritage, Bač represents a unique destination where history, nature, and tradition come together.
