THE NERA RIVER – Bela Crkva

THE NERA RIVER – Bela Crkva

The Nera River (Romanian: Nera; Hungarian: Néra) is a river in the Banat region and forms part of the border between Serbia and Romania. It is a left tributary of the Danube.

It is the only mountain river in Vojvodina, and its rapids, meanders, sandy and forested beaches, and hidden lagoons will delight every lover of unspoiled nature. Owing to these characteristics, the Nera is often nicknamed the “natural jacuzzi.”

Its riverbed is gravelly, and for most of the year the water is exceptionally clear and cold. The banks are largely covered with native white poplars and willows.

In addition to swimming and enjoying untouched nature, the Nera River offers opportunities for fishing, as well as exploring its hidden beaches and surrounding landscapes on foot or by bicycle.
