CULTURAL CENTER – Sivac

CULTURAL CENTER – Sivac

The Folklore Ensemble of the Cultural Center has been active for more than half a century, and its performances and achievements continue to shine like a string of pearls to this day. From the children’s and traditional folklore groups, men’s and women’s vocal ensembles, soloists, instrumentalists, and the orchestra featuring traditional instruments such as bagpipes, shepherd’s flute (frula), samica, tapan drum, and tamburitzas, all work together with a single purpose: preserving the traditions and customs of the Serbian people.

For many years, every July 6th, we have gathered around “Ivanjsko Cveće” (St. John’s Flower), a festival that has become a guardian of the heritage of the indigenous Serbs of Vojvodina. People from Srem, Banat, and Bačka showcase what they have rescued from oblivion. Everything is documented, photographed, and recorded, while our Vojvodina heritage garden continues to grow larger and more colorful.

A true amateur gem that has survived for more than thirty years despite the presence of large and costly festivals is FAMUS – the Acoustic Music Festival in Sivac.

The Drama Section “Velimir Sandić – Veljko” has brought recognition to our village through performances of the plays Claustrophobic Comedy, Attorney Pathelin, The Blacksmiths, and The Train, which has been performed more than one hundred times.

The Cultural Center of Sivac is also the organizer of the Municipal Festival of Amateur Drama, regarded as the highest-quality event of its kind in Vojvodina.

In 1985, we received the highest award in the field of culture – the Vuk Award. Even today, it continues to inspire and motivate us while reminding us of our responsibility to uphold the values it represents.
