Temerin

Temerin is located in the southern part of Bačka, close to Novi Sad, with which it is strongly connected thanks to its favourable location and proximity to the E-75 international route. It was first mentioned in 1332, and throughout its history developed as a settlement on the fertile Bačka plain. Today, it forms part of the wider urban and economic area of Novi Sad. The municipality comprises Temerin, Bački Jarak and Sirig, while the Jegrička River is a particular natural asset of the area, offering opportunities for spending time and relaxing in nature. Temerin is also known for its well-preserved Pannonian architecture, most notably the manor house dating from 1796, as well as the Local History Museum, whose interesting collection preserves traces of the region’s past. Temerin was the birthplace of Lukijan Mušicki, a writer, theologian, polyglot and Bishop of Gornji Karlovac, who made a significant contribution to the development of the Serbian language and culture. Fertile land, developed agriculture, furniture production and thermal-mineral springs represent important natural and economic resources of the municipality. Thanks to its proximity to Novi Sad, good transport links and a combination of cultural heritage and the peaceful atmosphere of the Pannonian plain, Temerin is an appealing destination for a day trip, a relaxing break and an opportunity to discover the traditional way of life in Bačka.
