MACURA WAREHOUSE – Stari Banovci

MACURA WAREHOUSE – Stari Banovci

“Macura” warehouse, like the museum itself, was named after its owner, Vladimir Macura. It is located in Stari Banovci, and the locals used to call this space the Old Mill.

It is situated a few kilometers upstream from the “Macura” Museum, when traveling along the Danube from Novi to Stari Banovci, or 25 km from Belgrade. The warehouse is located at Zenit 4.

“Grain was once stored here; it would become flour and then bread. And people were grateful.”

Macura was conceived as a place for “archiving a wide variety of artistic works and practices, and for revisiting everything that has happened to us. A former mine of bread has become a mine of hope.”

It houses archived documents on art and on the work of the Gorgona group—Josip Vaništa, Era Milivojević, Gergelj Urkom, Braco Dimitrijević, Kosta Bogdanović, Marina Abramović, Olga Jevrić, Vladan Radovanović, Joseph Beuys, and others.

In this unique gallery space, in addition to permanent and temporary art exhibitions, various cultural performances are also planned. This is evidenced by the fact that the Magacin has already hosted two fashion shows by Serbian designer Dragana Ognjenović, as well as a theatre performance directed by Nikita Milivojević.
