CYCLING CLUB SOMBOR – Sombor

Cycling Club Sombor is one of two cycling clubs in Sombor. It is engaged in the organization of both professional and amateur cycling races. While the “Lotus Team” focuses exclusively on competitive cycling, Cycling Club Sombor has oriented itself towards organizing cycling races of all types, as well as active leisure programs for all interested participants. These include cycling and hiking tours organized across the territory of the former Yugoslav republics. On an annual level, the club organizes around ten major events. It has a total of 97 permanent members from Sombor, with frequent participation of friends from the surrounding areas.

In 2022, the following activities were organized: 9-day Vinatovača – Strmosten (Serbia), 2-day Papuk – Voćin (Croatia), 10-day Herceg Novi (Montenegro), 9-day Skradin, Krka River (Croatia), 6-day Pliva Springs – Šipovo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), as well as many weekend activities. In the Sombor area (North Bačka District), the club is active throughout the year. During favorable weather conditions, full-day cycling tours are organized, while in the winter period hiking activities are practiced in the Gornje Podunavlje region. Participants often include guests from neighboring countries who enjoy the natural environment as well as the rich local gastronomy.

The “Trofej Sombora” is a road cycling race scoring for the Serbian Cup and takes place through the old city center of Sombor. The “Liberty Cycling Race” is also a road cycling race between Sombor and Osijek. Other events include children’s races “CX Kids” and the recreational cycling tour “Oko Sombora”, a 160 km ride lasting approximately 12 hours, circling Sombor with two gastronomic breaks, among many others.

The club workshop is located at Vojvođanska 5 in Sombor, but it is planned to be relocated to a new facility to better meet the growing needs of its members. The long-term plan is the establishment of a “SoBike Point” – a club space that will serve as an information hub, integrating the full tourism offer of the Sombor region and providing cyclists with all necessary information regarding accommodation, food, and other services. The club also offers a bicycle workshop with washing facilities, as well as clothing washing services. Rent-a-bike services and guided cycling tours with experienced guides are also available. The club is actively working on partnerships to bring the “SoBike Point” project into full operation as soon as possible.
