TIKVARA BEACH – Bačka Palanka

TIKVARA BEACH – Bačka Palanka

The water is warm and shallow, making it ideal for children and for supervised swimming. Due to the low water level, there is enough space for all visitors.

The municipal sports and recreation institution “Tikvara” has provided fountains set at a reasonable distance, as well as showers, waste bins, and changing cabins. After periods of high water levels, small sports courts are arranged and the beach area is maintained and levelled.

Located between two bodies of water—the lake and the Danube—there are also folding tables with benches, allowing visitors to prepare and enjoy food outdoors, including meals cooked in traditional cauldrons or grilled over an open flame. Some families choose to camp here for several days.

The beach has many regular visitors. While some note that swimming here may not be considered fashionable, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Apart from ice cream, watermelon, boiled corn, cold beer, and soft drinks, most other activities are free of charge.

Due to the low water level, the flow of water beneath the bridge connecting the lakeside beach with the plateau—where the former ferry crossing and the old “Danube” Tavern are located—has temporarily stopped. A few hundred metres upstream, near Popovo, water still occasionally flows into the lake. Although rare, it is sufficient for boats to navigate between Tikvara and the Danube and back.
