RESTAURANT “SOJENICA” – Sremska Mitrovica

RESTAURANT “SOJENICA” – Sremska Mitrovica

Due to the oak which is taken from the bottom of the Sava river the restaurant has a beautiful, unique interior and design. Many people probably think that wood is ruined in water. But this “noble”, is not. On contrary, it is “preserved”.

It is estimated that the oak wood, which the pile dwelling is made of, is 300 years old. In the restaurant, there is cultivated oak wood, for tables, pillars, and benches in original, natural, non-painted colours with added elmwood. Just this like the interior is what is the most authentic in this restaurant, but not the only one. Near the fireplace, where in the winter months is the fire, there are the mammoth tusk and bone, which were also taken from the bottom of Sava river.

“Sojenica” also represents the original architectonic place, made by the idea of The Architectonic Faculty in Belgrade. The mastermind of the project was the architect professor Aleksandar Videnović.

The building is made in such a way that every moment, in every part of it, the guest can enjoy in the perfect view on the Sava and its banks. There is also a separate terrace which is placed on the very bank of the river.
