ETHNO HOUSE “BAPINA BAZA” – Vrbas

ETHNO HOUSE “BAPINA BAZA” – Vrbas

“Bapa’s Base” is situated in old Vrbas, 137 Milivoja Cobankovica Street. Nowadays, the exhibits, photographs and historical materials that date from the World War II and are related to the territory of Vrbas municipality are displayed in this monument. During the war, illegal bases that represented the secret headquarters of the Partisan’s units were being formed all over Vojvodina. There were approximately 50 such bases on the territory of Vrbas municipality and “Bapa’s Base” was the most famous. It was placed in the house of Dragutin Radanov “Bapa”, who managed to keep this place secret during the war along with his five children. The visitors can see the displayed materials in the front house facing the street, where the family was living. There is a separate house in the backyard where the illegal political activists were working. In the first house, you can see the photographs from the period of the Labour Movement, Zemljodelac (Farmer) Magazine, the photographs of the renowned revolutionists, as well as, the objects that belonged to the guerrillas from Vrbas. Besides its historical value, this base is interesting because the backyard house represents the typical example of Serbian rural house in Vrbas both by its interior and exterior. The house was built in the 19th century.
