CULTURAL CENTER “ŽARKO ZRENjANIN” – Ivanovo

The Cultural Center “Žarko Zrenjanin” in Ivanovo is an institution established on October 1, 1962, by the decision of the NOO Pančevo. The new building of the Center was constructed in 1983, and its 713 square meters include a cinema hall, a hall for program activities (exhibitions, small performances, etc.), a library, and offices. Through its activities, the Cultural Center has fully justified its existence as a center of special importance for preserving the identity and fostering the culture of the Banat Bulgarians–Palćeni and Székely Hungarians.

Since its founding, an original folklore group of the Banat Bulgarians–Palćeni has been formed, which, with its unique and distinctive wedding dances and traditional costumes, has managed to preserve its folkloric tradition. The Cultural Center also hosts a library with a collection of over 6,000 books in Serbian, Hungarian, and Bulgarian.

Various cultural, artistic, and entertainment programs, as well as promotions and lectures on different aspects of social life, are organized at the Cultural Center.

The most notable events organized by the Cultural Center are:

– Art Photography Salon “Ivanovo in Focus”, preceded each year by the Photo Safari excursion, known throughout the region as the largest gathering of photographers and photography enthusiasts in this part of Europe. Promoting the village through photography is the primary achievement of this event.

– International Mother Language Day, which involves a large number of cultural-artistic societies (KUDs) and citizens’ associations, with programs presented in more than 10 languages of the national communities.

– International Accordion Festival “Golden Key” – First Accordion of Vojvodina, the highest-level accordion competition in Vojvodina. The festival is international, as participants come from all countries in the region and are divided into six categories, from ages 8 to 30. The jury consists of the most renowned artists, professors, and accordion virtuosos from our region. The main goal of the festival is the preservation of traditional folk music.
