CHARDA “PIKEC” – Bezdan

Carda (Tavern) “Pikec” is situated in the very north part of the Danube flow in Serbia. It is located in a holiday camp Baracka, near Bezdan. Carda was built on a peninsula surrounded by the Danube and its branch, a former winter harbor for the boats. It looks as if Carda was between water and the sky, in the oasis of the green and tempting fragrance of fish stew. Piquant fish stew made of carp or mixed fish is the most frequent bait for the visitors to come.

Jozi, Cumba, and other chefs prepare delicious stew, which is even tastier with the noodles, that chef Juriska knead and cook on the spot. The stew is cooked on order exclusively, and while it is simmering for 40 minutes, the guests can taste corned appetizer made of smoked bighead, pike, or white fish cooked in oil. There is a great variety of fried fish: carp, catfish, pike, pikeperch, and sterlet. This place is visited by the guests from Sombor, Subotica, Novi Sad, and Belgrade, as well as, the guests from Croatia, Hungary, Germany, France, and many other countries.

More and more sailors that sail down the Danube stop by here. In the vicinity of Carda, which is situated within the Special Nature Reserve Gornje Podunavlje, there are impenetrable marshes, thick forests, and a rich population of diverse birds. Only 5 km from Carda, in nearby village Kolut, the guests can visit a unique natural ZOO with rare species of exotic birds and a great variety of wild animals.

Carda provides accommodation in nearby weekend cottages. The hall of Carda holds 60 people and there is a terrace with another 60 seats. Tamburitza band plays regularly. There is also a car park for 30 vehicles and moorings for boats and small yachts.
