BISHOP’S PALACE – Novi Sad

BISHOP’S PALACE – Novi Sad

The Bishop’s Palace of the Bačka Eparchy, located on the Zmaj Jovina Street, was designed by Vladimir Nikolić during the tenure of Bishop Mitrofan Đević in 1901, in the Serbian-Byzantine style. The exterior combines decorations with forms of pseudo-Moorish sculptural work by the sculptor Julije Anika.

The palace displays three coats of arms of the eparchy: one on the front facade, one on the wall facing the courtyard, and one in the inner courtyard. The wall paintings in the dining hall were created by the painter Vladimir Predojević, and the iconostasis in the chapel of Saint Basil was painted by the Russian artist Vladimir Kurochkin.

The palace is not open to visitors.
