MANOR HOUSE – Panonija

The castle was built in 1846 for the noble Falcione family. The construction was carried out by Count Arpad Falcione, and the park surrounding the building was completed only in 1870, when the estate was managed by Arpad II Falcione. It is located on the agricultural estate “Panonija,” near the village of Bajša. The building is a modest single-story structure, set in an exceptionally well-maintained, spacious park.
The castle was built in the spirit of mature Classicism, featuring all the characteristics that make this style suitable for a noble residence. The portico above the main entrance is located in the central part of the elongated rectangular plan. It rests on four massive columns with Ionic capitals, above which is a flat architrave bearing the year of construction. The entrance is imposing, with two window openings flanking the door. The massive hipped roof adds elegance and simplicity to the structure. The harmonious proportions are further enhanced by the rhythmically placed windows, reflecting the interior layout of the rooms. Authentic decorative elements from the Classicism era include wrought-iron window guards.
Inside, several original features have been preserved: mirrors, a tile stove, parquet floors, carpentry work, a writing desk, stucco decorations, and a small library.
Today, the building serves as a museum, preserving authentic items from the castle. The castle contains a green banquet hall with period furniture, a large red hall, and a hall styled in local tradition called the Vojvodina Hall. The castle complex also includes the “Biser” hotel-restaurant. The entire estate is arranged for relaxation and enjoyment.
The entrance fee per person is 500 dinars.
The castle is open to visitors!
