THE MONASTERY OF ST. PARASCHEVA OF THE BALKANS – Berkasovo

The monastery was dedicated to St. Petka Trnova which is celebrated on October,27th. It is situated near Šid, on the border with the Republic of Croatia, in the valley in a beautiful natural surrounding. There was no road to this monastery till the recent days. Before this church, there are written historical evidence from 1863., that there was the wooden church where people gathered. About the church was told in 1884., and it is very strange that there was no trace about the church. The wooden church burnt and after that was built this church we know today. The altar of the church is just above the spring and this spring has never dried.
