THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF ST. IRENAEUS AND THE RECTORY – Sremska Mitrovica
Početna / Experiences / THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF ST. IRENAEUS AND THE RECTORY – Sremska Mitrovica
This Rectory church was built in 1811., and blessed on June, 30th 1811. The rectory church got the title of con-cathedral in 1984., and the title of basilica in 1991. That is the biggest honor made to one church. The Roman-catholic rectory in Sremska Mitrovica today uses two more chapels: one of the St. Rock on catholic grave yard ( built in 1880.) and The Sad Mother of God in Mitrovica on Calvary ( built in 1921.). The rectory has the section in Laćarak where existed the catholic church twenty years ago which collapsed, but the new one was built. Eduard Španović takes care of the rectory. For about 100 years there work nuns of St. Cross who were present in Mitrovica hospital. The church ceremonies are held in rectory church on Sundays at 9.00 AM and 19.00 PM, and on work days at 19.00 PM. The church ceremonies in Laćarak are served every Sunday at 11.00 AM.
