OLD LAKE – Kikinda
Kikinda is home to a natural treasure of immeasurable value – Staro jezero (Old Lake). This complex of interconnected water features covers a total area of approximately 5.1 hectares and is located just 500 metres from the town centre. After decades of neglect, restoration work began a few years ago to revitalise this much-loved place, to which generations of Kikinda residents feel a strong emotional connection. It is an attractive and healthy environment for relaxation, recreation and enjoyment. All revitalisation projects aim to respect the area’s natural characteristics and the region’s natural and cultural heritage, while creating opportunities for sport and recreation, gastronomy, festivals, entertainment and other activities.
