NATIONAL THEATRE – Kikinda
Početna / Experiences / NATIONAL THEATRE – Kikinda
Founded as the National Amateur Theatre in 1950, and professional since 1992 under the name National Theatre – Kikinda, the institution focuses on preparing and performing theatrical productions. The National Theatre stages 4–5 premieres per season, with a total of around 100 performances. Regular showings are on Tuesdays and Saturdays, though additional performances are scheduled as needed, especially for children and youth.
The theatre is genre-diverse, covering all forms of theatrical expression except experimental theatre. The local audience in Kikinda is estimated at about 10% of the total population, roughly 7,000 people, but realistically, depending on the production—its quality and genre—around 4,000 attend a single performance. Additionally, about 2,000 potential spectators attend touring performances.
The primary audience is the Kikinda municipality and the Northern Banat region. Regular exchanges allow for audience expansion across Vojvodina, and through touring and outreach, the theatre has attracted interest in other parts of Serbia and Montenegro, and increasingly abroad, where the interest of the diaspora is significant.
