According to local tradition, the Serbian Orthodox Church of St Nicholas was built in 1760 on the site of an earlier wattle-and-daub church. Among the church’s most valuable features are two wall paintings created by Teodor Ilić Češljar in 1790–91. The northern wall depicts The Last Supper, while the southern wall features The Ascension of Christ. Both paintings demonstrate Češljar’s maturity as an artist and are regarded as outstanding works of Serbian art. The icons on the iconostasis are believed to have been painted by Jakov Orfelin in 1773.
