THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN OF NEPOMUK – Zrenjanin

The Roman Catholic Cathedral is dedicated to St. Ivan Nepomuk, who is considered to be the protector of bridges and rivers. The building lasted since 1864- 1868. on the central city square, at the place of the previous catholic church. The cathedral is a three nave building which in a neo- roman style and the plans were drawn by an architect Stevan Đorđević. It was built under the measures of citizens and the city – the echo of the bells could be heard just to the border lines of Bečkerek. The inside decoration was done by the artist Jožef Gojgner, by the Bible motifs and already made works of French graphic designer Gustav Dore. The cathedral owns the original organs from 1905. This cathedral is one of the symbols of peaceful life in multinational and area consisted of different religions.
