Theatre amateurs from Senta founded the “Miroslav Antić” Chamber Stage in 1986, and it has become the cornerstone of cultural life in the Serbian language in this town in the Potisje region. Initially, it operated within the Youth Cultural Center, and in 1990 it was registered as a separate legal entity. Today, it has grown into a theatre company with about 60 active members, organized into ensembles of all age groups.
The Chamber Stage premieres around four theatrical productions annually, which are performed throughout the season in Senta, surrounding municipalities in Potisje, and across Vojvodina. It has been a welcome guest at theatres such as “Duško Radović,” “Zvezdara Teatar,” “DADOV,” and “Kult Teatar” in Belgrade; the National Theatre in Niš; “Youth Theatre” and “INFANT” in Novi Sad; the Serbian National Theatre in Banja Luka (the first amateur theatre to perform in war-affected Republika Srpska in 1994); the University Theatre in Kyiv (Ukraine); and in Deska, Szentendre, Budapest (Hungary), Trebinje, Jagodina, Gnjilane, and other locations.
On its tenth anniversary, the theatre published a book in collaboration with KUZ “Slavija” from Novi Sad, titled ”They Were Guided by Love”, documenting its work. On its twentieth anniversary, a new book was published, titled “Miroslav Antić” Chamber Stage from Senta, which compiled all the achievements of the theatre during that period.
