CITY HALL – Sombor

The former palace of Sombor’s captain Jovan Brankovic represents the central architectural landmark of “Flat-town” (Sombor). It was built in 1718. After the death of count Jovan Brankovic, his castle was sold to the municipal government. Town Hall was settled in this building in 1749. It got its final appearance in 1842 and it became the most representative building decorated in neoclassical style. The transfers of the town were completed in its offices on November 13th 1918 and October 21st 1944. The Town Hall was proclaimed the cultural value of great importance for it has been the recognizable landmark of Sombor.
