BATTLE OF SENTA MEMORIAL VIEWPOINT – Senta

The Senta Battle Memorial Viewpoint is an important landmark of the town. It was opened in 2010 by the Municipality of Senta and the Senta Tourist Organization. Visitors can see a model depicting the Battle of Senta (2 x 2 m, with 2,000 figures) and a large, detailed historical topographic map displayed on the wall, showing the names of prominent heroes.

The exhibition also includes military equipment from the time of the Battle of Senta, authentic documents, geographic maps, reproductions of artistic paintings, and three modern works of art. In the room at the very top of the tower, visitors can get an impression of Senta as it looked in the previous century. The original clock mechanism of the tower is also displayed in the same space.

The view from the Town Hall terrace is breathtaking. From a height of 50 meters, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Senta bordered by the Tisa River, which cuts through the Pannonian landscape.

Visits to the viewpoint must be scheduled in advance.

The Battle of Senta

In 1697, the Turks launched a military campaign to reclaim lost territories. However, on September 11, 1697, they suffered a decisive defeat at Senta at the hands of the Christian army under the command of the famous Eugene of Savoy. In commemoration of this event, which was significant for the Christian world and Europe, the Senta Battle Memorial was erected on the bank of the Tisa River.
