The church of the falling asleep of the most holy Mother of the God is one of the oldest  buildings kept in one peace in Zrenjanin. It was build in 1746., at the time of Maria Theresia, in baroque style. It was the only church in Temišvar eparchy covered with tiles. Thanks to that fact and that it was built of bricks, it was saved of the great fire in 1807., when all the wooden houses in the city were burned.

It represents the one dome building with the half- circled vault  on the east and high bell tower on the west. The iconostasis of the church was made by Bečkerek painter Georgije Popović. On the icons , in three zones are represented scenes from old and new oath. It is supposed that Popović also made seven kissing icons with oil technique on the wooden surface. Since 1951. these  icons are under the protection of Law about cultural monuments. The wall decoration of the church was made by academic painter Aleksandar Sekulić in 1924.
