The Orthodox Church in Kulpin- in place of the former old church the family Stratimirović erected the new one in 1813. The iconostasis is the work of art of the famous icon painter Jovan Kljajić. This is a unique work of art like no other seen in any of Vojvodina churches. All members of the famous family Stratimirović, who represented the highest level of Serbian military and ecclesiastical aristocracy in the Habsburg Monarchy are buried in the churchyard of this church.
Stefan Stratimirović- the Metropolitan, was born in 1757 in Kulpin. He had been the spiritual leader of the Serbian people and churches in Vojvodina for a long time . He was the Metropolitan of Sremski Karlovci (1790-1836). He helped both Serbian uprisings with enormous material donations. Even before the First Serbian Uprising he submitted the famous memoir to the Russian czar for the establishment of an independent Serbian state. He founded the Seminary and the first Serbian High school in Karlovci. He was a great opponent of the linguistic reforms of Vuk Karadžić. He died in Karlovci in 1836.
Georgije Branković- the Patriarch, was born in Kulpin. He was the Metropolitan of Karlovci and Serbian Patriarch (1890-1907). He erected the Patriarch’s Palace and Seminary in Karlovci. He is the founder of the first Serbian girls’ school in Kulpin. He ordered the construction of a number of schools in in Vojvodina towns. He worked on educating of the Serbs. He died in Karlovci in 1907.
