Second CAST Cultural Action as Part of KultFest in Sremski Karlovci

What does cultural life in Sremski Karlovci look like from the perspective of its residents? Are cultural activities accessible and interesting to everyone? Who takes part, and who remains on the sidelines? And what can we do together to make culture more open, accessible and relevant to different groups of citizens?

The Tourism Organization of Vojvodina is seeking answers to these and other questions as part of the transnational project “Culture trAnSforming communiTies and economies” – CAST, with the second cultural action being implemented precisely in Sremski Karlovci.

The aim of the CAST project is to contribute to social inclusion, community engagement and sustainable economic development by building on the rich cultural heritage of the Danube Region. Partners from eleven Danube Region countries are jointly developing a model to help local communities create inclusive cultural activities and sustainable tourism products. Through pilot actions, this model is being tested in different settings, while the experiences of local communities play an important role in its further development.

On Saturday, 15 August, as part of KultFest in Sremski Karlovci, the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina in cooperation with Tourism Organisation of Sremski Karlovci will organize a CAST cultural action. At the project information stand, citizens will have the opportunity to learn more about the project’s objectives and activities, talk to the project team, and share their experiences, opinions and suggestions.

A particular focus will be placed on inclusion and accessibility of cultural activities. We want to hear about the challenges citizens face, whether there are cultural activities they would like to participate in more, which groups of the population are less involved, and what could encourage their greater participation in cultural life.

Citizens will also have the opportunity to take part in a short survey and thus directly contribute to the project’s pilot action. Their responses and experiences will be an important part of the process of identifying new solutions for creating more open, accessible and inclusive cultural activities.

The particular value of this activity lies in the fact that the pilot action is being implemented in Sremski Karlovci – a place with an exceptionally rich cultural heritage, but also a vibrant local community whose needs, experiences and ideas should be part of the future development of cultural and tourism activities.

KultFest is also part of the Danube Festival Caravan of CAST projects, which connects communities across the Danube Region through various cultural events and promotes culture as a space for meeting, connecting and active civic participation.

We invite all residents of Sremski Karlovci to visit the CAST project stand on 15 August, learn more about the project and share their views with us.

Because culture is not only what we watch and visit – it is also what we take part in together.
