The Church of St George in Uzdin is one of the largest and the most magnificent Parishes of the Romanian Orthodox Churches in Vojvodina. The temple is dedicated to St George. It was built and consecrated in 1801. The temple was destroyed in the fire in 1850. On that occasion the tower and a wooden roof were burnt down. The tower was renovated in1883 and a year later, the entire roof of the temple.
The iconostasis in this temple was being painted from 1833 to 1836 by the famous painter Konstantin Danilo and it was not damaged in the fire.
The entire interior of the Orthodox Church in Uzdin was painted all over by the artists Filip Matej and Joan Zajku in 1907 and 1908.
The naïve painter Anujka Maran painted the wooden church banners – “LITIJA”(Processions) in oil painting technique on canvas in 1940 and 1950. Therefore, the naïve art was acknowledged by the side of the Roman Orthodox Church and it is officially used during divine services.
