THE GALLERY OF NAIVE ART – Uzdin

THE GALLERY OF NAIVE ART – Uzdin

Naive painting in Uzdin represents an artistic treasury in the real sense of that word, so as any other treasury, it should be well preserved, but at the same time also open for all the lovers of fine arts. This is the way cultural laborers Adam Doklean and Dr. Petar Dimča thought four decades ago, when they decided to preserve all the valuable pieces of art made by painters from Uzdin and to exhibit them in one place. This is how The Gallery of Naive Painting in Uzdin was established on 17th November 1963.

At the opening of the gallery among others also attended Oto Bihalji Merin, a writer, historian and one of the most important critics of naive art.

The present Gallery of Naive Painting was open together with The Cultural Center in 1990. There are currently exhibited around 100 pieces of art made by painters from Uzdin.

The circle of self-taught painters in Uzdin is vital, since there are young acquisitions. Today in the Gallery in Uzdin one can see the paintings of Maria Balan, Anuika Maran, Ana Onkuji, Florika Puja, Mariora Motorišeski, Sofiju Doklsan, Anuce Dolame, Florike Čet, Viorike Jerorje.
