ROMANIAN ETHNO HOUSE – Uzdin

“The Romanian house” in Uzdin was founded on 21 May, 2005 by virtue of the Romanian consul in Belgrade Radu Baženarua. This house represents the first national facility of its kind outside the borders of Romania. At the same time it has become a real Romanian Cultural Center organizing the events regarding the spiritual calendar of the Romanians from this region.

There are many rooms in the house , each of which represents a separate thematic unit. There is the library “Peter Mezin” with a fund of over 4,000 books, gallery “Torna, Torna Fratre” terrace of “Targovistea ” poets, room-museum “Sport in Uzdin through the centuries”, a rich collection of old household items, a collection of folk costumes as well as traditional room in the Uzdinian style.

“The Romanian House” represents a tribute to the literary and artistic society “Tibiscus” from Uzdin. It has been donated by brothers Dr. Dorel Dimceu a specialist from Nicosia, and Dan Dimceu, a researcher in IBM concern in Paris for the cultural purposes as a memory of their father, Dr. Petru Dimceu. The objects exhibited in this house are both of a great museum, and a spiritual value as well.

– Meetings of the Writers of Banat Speech

A large number of people assisted in the organization of this cultural meetings, both with voluntary work and donations, that is highly appreciate and respect by the locals of Uzdine
