SLOVAKIAN ETHNO HOUSE – Padina
Početna / Experiences / SLOVAKIAN ETHNO HOUSE – Padina
Ethno home in Padina presents the former house where sexton lived. In the honor of 200 years of establishment of Padina settlement ,in 2006, a group of citizens, together with the Association of women who were the initiators, renovated the house and equipped it with old things (that have gathered around the village) wanting to show how the ancestors of today’s Padina inhabitants lived. It is a Slovakian national house, which shows the way of life of the Slovaks in Padina in the 19th century. The setting is authentic and interesting for tourists.
Ethno home in Padina has no professional guides or curators. For pre-booked groups of tourists traditional Slovak breakfast at home is likely to be organized. The house is not just a showroom but it is also used for the Women Association meetings in winter and some smaller parties. In the first room, or in the hall, there are old photographs, which illustrate the history of Padina, while rooms facing the street are decorated as the living room and bedroom. The kitchen is used for cooking and baking (baking bread and potatoes in peasant stove). Wine is also served to tourists.
Ethno home as an ethno entity is not completed, because the further adaptation of the accessory, ie. the economic part of the yard with the ethno households in the early nineteenth century was not continued. It is planned to set up the old machines in the courtyard. So far, there has been only one old coach located in the yard. The house is located behind the church.
