CROATIAN CULTURAL CENTER “BUNJEVAČKO KOLO” – Subotica

The Croatian Cultural Center “Bunjevačko Kolo” is an association of freely and voluntarily united citizens in the fields of culture, art, and education, founded in 1970 with the aim of preserving, developing, and nurturing the culture, traditions, and customs of the Bunjevac Croats. In addition, the association works to popularize and promote tradition by engaging a large number of young members of the Croatian community in Serbia. The Croatian language is used in the Center’s activities.

The Center is divided into several departments: folklore, music, visual arts, and drama. Until 2014, the CCC “Bunjevačko Kolo” also served as the executive producer of the harvest celebration “DUŽIJANCA.” As part of the Dužijanca celebration, the Center organizes the festival “Children in Dužijanca” as well as the international art colony “BUNARIĆ.”

Additionally, the Center organizes the “Veliko Prelo,” one of the oldest events in the city. The first “Veliko Prelo” was held back in 1879. The event is most memorable when residents of the city and surrounding areas gather around one of the oldest traditions to socialize, converse, celebrate, and collectively enrich themselves for new efforts in preserving and nurturing the rich cultural heritage passed down by their ancestors.

The Center has around 300 members, ranging from children to adult citizens of the Croatian minority community.
