The Serbian Cultural Center “Saint Sava” was founded on April 13, 1991, with the aim of promoting Serbian spirituality and culture in this region, as well as spreading and preserving the most significant values of our tradition and creative work. The idea is to create a gathering place for people for whom the teachings of Saint Sava are a life philosophy, a support and message, an inexhaustible source, inspiration, and guide.
Since 1994, its headquarters have been located in the Endowment of Dušan Radić, a Serbian landowner and benefactor, at Trg Republike 16. In 1998, the endowment was renovated and restored to its former glory, and since then, all center activities have taken place in this ceremonial setting.
Since that time, SKC “Saint Sava” has been a model institution in the fields of culture, art, and spirituality. It is actively engaged in creativity, arts, publishing, and other cultural activities, such as organizing spiritual forums, scientific and historical lectures, exhibitions, and musical evenings. The Center hosts five permanent annual events: the celebration of Christmas Eve (Badnji dan), Saint Sava Week, Orthodox Week, Vidovdan Days, and a program called “In Honor of November 13th.”
Throughout the year, the Center organizes spiritual forums, historical forums, literary forums, concerts, and musical evenings. It also has a gallery program, with over a hundred paintings, sculptures, watercolors, graphics, drawings, and photographs by some of today’s most renowned artists. Works by Milić of Mačva, Miloš Šobajić, Moma Antonović, and others are part of the Center’s distinguished collection. Since its founding, the Center has published the journal *Luča*, dedicated to culture, science, and art. In 1996, a mixed choir was established within the Center, and in 2013, a children’s choir called “Iskončići” began its activities. The literary club, also part of the Center, aims to publish and promote members’ works and organize poetry evenings.
