AIpromTOUR Project Kick-Off Conference Held in Novi Sad
The Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina organised the kick-off conference of the AIpromTOUR – AI as a Boost for CBC Tourism Destination project in Novi Sad on 9 and 10 July 2026. The project is implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
The first day of the conference was held at the Master Congress Centre of the Novi Sad Fair, while a study visit to Fruška Gora was organised on the second day.
The conference brought together representatives of institutions and the tourism sector, as well as experts in the fields of tourism and digital technologies, with the aim of presenting project activities and exchanging knowledge on the application of artificial intelligence in the development of sustainable tourism.
At the opening of the conference, the participants were addressed by Milan Jarić, Acting Assistant Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, and Milivoj Kovačević, Acting Director of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina, who highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation and the application of innovative digital solutions in enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism offer.
The AIpromTOUR project was presented by Dr Sandra Poleksić of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina, who introduced the participants to the project’s objectives, planned activities and expected results. The project aims to enhance the sustainable development of tourism in the cross-border area of Serbia and Croatia through the application of modern artificial intelligence-based solutions. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of AI tools for marketing, data analysis and enhancing the user experience, the creation of a joint strategic framework for the application of artificial intelligence in tourism, as well as the development of new tourism products in the cross-border area.
As part of the programme, Dr Renata Pindžo delivered a presentation entitled “Situation Analysis of Tourism in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina”, while Dejan Veselinov of the Association of the Tourism Industry of Serbia (ATIS) spoke about tourism product development in the active tourism sector.
On the second day of the conference, a study visit to Fruška Gora was organised. The participants visited the Mala Remeta Monastery, followed by Fruškogorska Lugarnica, where they had the opportunity to learn about tourism development in Fruška Gora National Park and the wine routes of the area. Dragan Vidović, Director of Fruška Gora National Park, and Milan Leđanac, a wine technologist and professor of winemaking, spoke about the importance of sustainable tourism development.
The AIpromTOUR project is implemented in partnership by the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina as the Lead Partner, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Vukovar-Srijem County Tourist Board and the Danube Competence Center. The total project value is EUR 786,107, and the project is being implemented from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2028.
The project will develop innovative tourism products and digital solutions that will contribute to improved destination management, enhanced promotion and greater competitiveness of the cross-border area of Serbia and Croatia.
