First Workshop Takes Place as Part of the “AI as a Boost for CBC Tourism Destination” Project

As part of the “AI as a Boost for CBC Tourism Destination” (AIpromTOUR) project, implemented through the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia–Serbia, the initial workshop on developing a Joint Strategic Framework for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Tourism Development took place in Novi Sad on 6 October 2026.

The workshop was organised by the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina and brought together representatives of the tourism sector and other interested participants. The aim of the workshop was to explore the needs and challenges of the tourism sector in relation to the use of artificial intelligence, as well as opportunities for its application across different areas of tourism, through an exchange of experiences and open discussion.

In the introductory part of the workshop, Dr Sandra Poleksić presented the AIpromTOUR project and the objectives of the workshop. Branislav Miletić then presented examples of the use of artificial intelligence in tourism, followed by an open discussion on the everyday challenges and opportunities associated with the use of AI tools.

A dedicated part of the workshop focused on work in smaller groups, where participants, based on their professional profiles and experience, discussed specific needs and opportunities for applying artificial intelligence in different areas of their work.

Following the group work, the participants’ conclusions and observations were presented, contributing to the further development of the Joint Strategic Framework for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Tourism Development.

The workshop represents one of the initial steps within the AIpromTOUR project, through which partners from Croatia and Serbia are working to strengthen cross-border tourism cooperation and explore the opportunities that artificial intelligence offers for the development of tourism destinations.
