Announcement of the “Grašac Festival” Event

A press conference was held at the Information Center of the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina on the occasion of the fifth edition of the “Grašac Festival”, an event dedicated to wines made from the region’s most important white grape variety.

“Grašac is an indigenous variety from Fruška Gora, and it is our responsibility to promote it even more effectively. That is precisely why we never hesitated to support this event throughout the previous years. It is important that we all work together and clearly demonstrate our commitment to promoting everything that represents the soul of Serbia and Vojvodina, above all its people, the distinctive cuisine of this region, which is a blend of various culinary traditions, and its excellent beverages. Today we are talking about wine, but we should not forget rakija, whose quality continues to improve,” said Nenad Ivanišević, Provincial Secretary.

“Wine culture in Vojvodina has a long tradition dating back to Roman times. Events such as this one, and I hope there will be many more, preserve and promote the wine culture and wine-making heritage of this region. Although this is a relatively young event in terms of its existence, it is certainly not young when it comes to quality and perseverance. That is why it has earned a place in the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina’s official events calendar, and we have recognized all the values it represents. This year, the event will feature 30 registered wineries, as well as wineries from across the region,” emphasized Milivoj Kovačević, Director of the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina.

Gordana Radojević from the wine magazine “Vino i fino”, one of the event organizers, highlighted that Grašac is the leading grape variety in the Fruška Gora wine region. Visitors to Petrovaradin Fortress on Saturday will have the opportunity to taste various styles of Grašac wines, ranging from light and fresh wines to sparkling wines, and to experience firsthand the quality of wines made from this grape variety, which has gained recognition on the international wine market.

“While considering what could serve as a driving force for the region and how we could more easily achieve recognition and encourage people to try wines from Fruška Gora, we realized that we possess this exceptional grape variety. It is capable of producing wines that can mature for many years, as demonstrated by samples presented at various events and competitions. It can be used to make excellent sparkling wines as well as sweet late-harvest wines, and there is an ample supply of it,” said Gordan Bašić, President of the Association “Srem – Fruška Gora.”

The “Grašac Festival” will be held in Novi Sad, on the plateau of Petrovaradin Fortress in front of the artists’ studios, on 13 June from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and in Belgrade on 20 June 2026 at the historic Residence of Princess Ljubica (Konak Kneginje Ljubice).
