THE PUBLIC SWIMMING AREA “STRAND” ON THE CANAL – Sombor

The construction of the Grand Canal was in the eighteenth century and Sombor received its first swimming area. During the 30s of that century, the Strand was built on the left side of the Apatin Bridge, where it remains today.

Today, the public beach is composed of:


  • An outdoor swimming pool measuring 50 m x 25 m

  • Large outdoor swimming pool 25 m x 8 m

  • Courts for beach volleyball

  • Fields for football

  • A playground
