ROHALJ BASES – Sviloš

During World War II, this site housed refugees from local populations fleeing Sviloš, Ležimir, Divoš, and other Fruška Gora villages from Ustaše terror. It also contained a permanent Partisan center, a complex of dugouts with workshops for weapon repairs, and a gathering point for transferring Partisan brigades to free territory in eastern Bosnia. The name comes from the surname of a family from Divoš on whose land the Partisans gathered. The entire area from Rohalj Base to Letenka and Jabuke was, in fact, free territory during the war.

The memorial house visible today was built in 1972. It once contained various documents and exhibits related to the deployment of Vojvodina Partisans to the frontlines. The author of the memorial complex, including the museum building and Partisan cemetery, is Milorad Berbakov. Today, the building houses a tavern, and most of the exhibits have been transferred to the Museum of Srem in Sremska Mitrovica.
