According to existing documents, it is reliably known that the first Serbian Reading Room in Srbobran was founded in 1869, in the building of the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality.
Today, this is the Public Library Srbobran, located in the beautiful former home of the Gavanski family, built in 1901. The Public Library also has branches in the settlements of Turija and Nadalj.
The library’s collection comprises nearly 44,000 titles in Serbian and Hungarian, as well as a rich local history collection.
The Public Library Srbobran is also registered for publishing activities. In the past four years, six titles by local authors have been published.
In addition to its core activities, the library staff offers a variety of cultural programs for the local community, including literary evenings, thematic lectures, panel discussions, and art exhibitions.
