MUSEUM UNIT – Odžaci
Početna / Experiences / MUSEUM UNIT – Odžaci
The Museum Unit in Odžaci was established in November 1980, elevating an amateur collection to the level of a museum unit. Until 1990, the collection was part of the “Odžaci” University, after which it became part of the “Branko Radičević” Public Library, where it remains today. The museum is of a complex type with a local focus, housing archaeological, historical, and ethnographic collections.
The permanent exhibition is archaeological, featuring items from the Early Neolithic period at the Donja Branjevina site, as well as artifacts from other periods. The exhibition is also historical, covering objects from the entire 20th century. Among the most notable items is a porcelain pipe dating from the early 20th century. The widely renowned statue “ Crvenokosa boginja,” (Red-Haired Goddess) which combines symbols of female and male fertility and was created over 7,000 years ago, is kept at the National Museum in Belgrade, while a replica is displayed in the exhibition.
Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 08:00–15:00; Weekends: first and second Saturday of the month, 08:00–12:00.
