Carda (Tavern) “Bata Peugeot” is situated on the noticeable site of the holiday camp Kamenjar, on the left bank of the Danube and only a couple of kilometers from Novi Sad. At first glance, especially for strangers, this is an unusual name for a tavern. But, this name is an important element in the history of the restaurant industry in Novi Sad, which is consisted of endless bohemian stories and sleepless nights accompanied by a spritzer and the verses of the numerous famous poets from the territory of former Yugoslavia.
Carda was named after a famous restaurateur from Novi Sad Djordje Stanisavljevic. He built Carda, created its ambiance, and attracted a great number of domestic and foreign visitors to come to this oasis of beauty, peace, and exquisite food. He had spent approximately ten years in this ambiance and then he opened a new inn – in Novi Sad.
Carda has still been working successfully. The new owners have enhanced a menu, and besides fish, they offer grill dishes and dishes prepared under “sac” (a type of iron cover; the dish is put below it and, then, it is covered with embers). During lunch and dinner, the guests are entertained by pleasant music. This Carda is visited by numerous travelers who come to Novi Sad. On Carda’s terrace, a cool breeze brings peace to a soul, while a bite brings jolly and sweet carelessness.
There are 190 seats altogether in two halls and on two terraces. Tamburitza bands play from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm every day except Monday. There is a car park for 20 vehicles and a marina for boats and yachts. Payment can be arranged by Visa Card, Dina Card, Master Card, and Maestro Card.
