CULTURAL CENTER “BAČKA PALANKA” – Bačka Palanka

Bačka Palanka Cultural Center was established as a professional institution in the field of culture of special social significance and interest. Exhibitions, cinema and theater performances, children’s performances, festivals, concerts, literary events, gallery activities, museum activities, promotion of creativity and ideas, education and professional development, publication of promotional materials and catalogs are all recognizable activities under the banner of the Cultural Center.

Events organized by the Cultural Center include: In the Rhythm of Europe, Open Stage Festival, Jazz & Blues Fest, Demo Band Festival, and Danube Ball.

Bačka Palanka Cultural Center operates in several areas:

CITY CINEMA – Bačka Palanka, Veselina Masleše 8

This building was constructed in 1906. At the beginning of 2020, it was completely renovated: the sound booth, offices, and dressing rooms were adapted; the foyer was renovated and now periodically exhibits drawings by local artists; and the cinema club was adapted. The film screening hall was fully renovated, seats were replaced, and the structure of the room itself was improved.

Film screenings take place six days a week with two showings per day, while Thursdays are reserved for other important content: theater performances, promotions, panel discussions, formal sessions, entertainment shows, concerts, festivals, and other events, making this hall the most frequented ceremonial venue in the city.Cinema projects (independent initiatives) include: Culture from My Perspective, Traveling Cinematograph, Documentary Film Festival, participation in all projects of the Serbian Film Center, and regular cinema screenings.

THEATER

Theater projects (independent initiatives) include Theater Spring, Theater Autumn — in-house productions of theater performances for children and youth.

MUSEUM

City Museum projects (independent initiatives) include Museum Digitization, daily visits, and improvement of 20 permanent exhibitions.

GALLERY

The Gallery exhibits work by local artists. It also serves as an excellent chamber concert space, as demonstrated by concerts and seminars for classical harp and guitar.Gallery projects (independent initiatives) include Through the Ages with Culture, Painting for the Youngest, Drawing and Painting School, along with regular exhibition activities.

MUSIC SCENE

Independent music projects include Music Through the Ages, Blues & Jazz & Rock Festival, KC Fest, and regular music events — concerts.

EDUCATION

Independent educational projects include Parenting Culture, Culture of Women’s Innovative Entrepreneurship, and numerous workshops and seminars in the field of cultural literacy.

PUBLISHING

Within its independent publishing activities, in the past year, in addition to the publications Blues & Jazz & Rock Fest and 50 Years of Rock Music in Bačka Palanka, the Center has published books including: 150 Years of Bačka Palanka, Aurozan, Sač, and Small Encyclopedia of Bačka Palanka Rock.
