Početna / News and Announcements / “Villages of Serbia” Platform Presented at Novi Sad Fair
The “Villages of Serbia” platform was presented today at the Master Congress Centre of the Novi Sad Fair, as part of the LORIST Fair. The platform was developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Youth with the aim of presenting and connecting the tourism offer of rural areas across Serbia in a modern and accessible way.
The presentation was attended by Višnja Rakić, Acting Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, Dr Nenad Ivanišević, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, and Milivoj Kovačević, Acting Director of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina.
The “Villages of Serbia” platform brings together information on destinations and tourism offers in rural areas, featuring an interactive map, itinerary planning options and other content designed to make it easier for visitors to discover and explore some of the lesser-known and authentic parts of Serbia.
An important feature of the platform is the opportunity to bring together different stakeholders involved in creating the tourism offer in one place. Registered hospitality providers from rural areas operating within the eTurista system will be able to register and present their offers, while local tourism organisations will be able to add and present the full range of accompanying tourism services and attractions available in their respective municipalities.
A dedicated section of the platform will also be available for tourist guides, providing them with greater visibility and easier access to potential visitors. In this way, the platform connects providers of different tourism services and makes the tourism offer of rural areas more accessible and visible in one place. Another important advantage is that the platform provides a free promotional channel for tourism stakeholders, particularly small rural households, service providers and local tourism organisations.
“This is an important step towards the digital promotion of rural tourism and an opportunity, ahead of EXPO 2027, to further showcase different parts of Serbia, their nature, traditions, culture, gastronomy and authentic experiences,” said Višnja Rakić.
Dr Nenad Ivanišević highlighted the importance of connecting local tourism organisations, service providers and other tourism stakeholders through modern digital tools.
“Rural areas have significant potential for tourism development, and their greater visibility and accessibility to tourists can contribute to the development of local tourism offers and create new opportunities for households and other service providers. Platforms such as this make it possible to present these offers in a simple and modern way and make them more accessible to the market,” said Ivanišević.
Milivoj Kovačević, Acting Director of the Tourism Organisation of Vojvodina, noted that the platform represents a significant opportunity to further promote rural destinations across Vojvodina.
“One of the important goals is to give tourists more reasons to go beyond the most visited destinations and discover other parts of Vojvodina as well. This can contribute to a more balanced distribution of tourist visits, as well as longer stays, since rural areas can offer experiences and activities that encourage visitors to stay longer and discover the destination in a different way,” said Kovačević.
During the presentation, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the platform’s features, ask questions, share their experiences and provide suggestions for its further development.
“Villages of Serbia” is a digital tool designed to increase the visibility of rural destinations and connect different stakeholders in the tourism sector, making the nature, traditions, gastronomy, culture and authentic experiences of Serbian villages more accessible to domestic and international visitors.
