The survey was conducted in the period from March 24 to April 27, 2022. A total of 302 respondents (foreign and domestic tourists) were surveyed. The largest number of domestic respondents were from larger cities in the Republic of Serbia, so the frequency of their answers is the highest. In addition to respondents from Serbia, the sample also included respondents from the region of the former Yugoslavia (Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia) and neighboring Romania. Of this segment of the sample, the most numerous are from Romania (Timisoara and Arad), as well as respondents from the Republic of Srpska (Banja Luka). The sample of respondents also included guests from Cuba, the Philippines, India, Spain, Switzerland, and Croatia, whose share, in percentage terms, is the smallest.
What respondents think of first when it comes to tourism in AP Vojvodina showed that Vojvodina has good conditions for the development of food tourism (“food tourism”). Namely, as many as 89 respondents stated that tasty and well-prepared food is their first association when hearing the word Vojvodina. Also, the natural geographical determinant of the location of Vojvodina in the Pannonian Plain is in second place with 62 received answers.
Among the main tourist attractions in AP Vojvodina, the respondents mention Mt. Fruška gora and the Petrovaradin Fortress, as well as monasteries located on Mt. Fruška gora, but also other monasteries throughout Vojvodina. Besides them, the respondents mentioned Lake Palić, Sremski Karlovci and the city of Novi Sad as the most recognizable tourist attractions in AP Vojvodina. It is obvious that Lake Palić is the most interesting among the “water” tourist attractions, as well as Bela Crkva Lakes and the Danube. Also, grange farms ranked relatively high in terms of attractiveness as classic symbolic indicators of lowlands style and way of life.
By far the most popular tourist destination is the Fruška Gora National Park (70), then Vršački Breg (55), the City of Novi Sad (45), Palić with Lake Palić (43) and grange farms (23). This order of responses received corresponds to the question on the amount of time the respondents would spend in one of the tourist destinations of Vojvodina, because the largest percentage of responses received opted for a short vacation of 2 to 3 days.
The results of the survey showed that as many as 280 respondents would recommend visiting AP Vojvodina to their friends or relatives. A large number of positive responses indicate satisfaction with the diverse tourist potentials and offer on the territory of AP Vojvodina, which can satisfy different tastes of tourists.
As the reason why they would recommend coming to AP Vojvodina, the largest number of respondents (218) stated the excellent gastronomic offer. In second place is hospitality and kindness with 103 answers received. This is followed by beautiful and preserved nature (91), peace and quiet (57) and opportunities for recreation and active holidays (30).
The survey confirmed the position that in general AP Vojvodina has respectable natural and social, i.e. anthropogenic resources suitable for tourism development. These resources must be put in the function of its development. AP Vojvodina should generally develop thematic types of tourism, because they objectively have the greatest chances for development. Promotional activity should also play an important role in that. So far, the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina, as the survey has shown, has performed the promotional activity exceptionally well.
