Sremska Mitrovica is a museum city, one of the oldest cities in Europe, with a life that has lasted on the same locale for almost seven thousand years. The largest city in Srem developed on the foundations of the ancient Sirmium, one of the capitals of the Roman Empire. For that reason, this destination was on the route “Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route”, which is one of the 40 cultural routes of the Council of Europe.
The destination was presented by shooting four separate 360° videos with virtual reality (VR) technology as part of a concept that allows individual tourists and tour operators (travel agency or tour operator) to have the opportunity to get acquainted with an integrated tourism product in a modern and interesting way.
The video materials are divided into the following thematic categories which, when viewed in their entirety, create an overall picture of the destination and provide information for a quality and meaningful stay:
For optimal viewing, make sure to adjust the image quality on YOUTUBE to minimum 1440s HD
VIDEO 1 Roman historical site as the main reason for traveling to Sremska Mitrovica and Serbia – 360 ° view of the archeological site with accompanying audio guide.
VIDEO 2 Destination – presentation of tourist attractions in 360° video combined with audio narration.
VIDEO 3 Accommodation and catering facilities as a mandatory part of tourist travel.
VIDEO 4 Excursions and visits to natural and other attractions in the area, as a reason to extend the stay at the destination and raise the overall satisfaction of tourists – 360° view of the Zasavica Special Nature Reserve.
Virtual reality immerses users in a fully digital environment through VR glasses or computer screens and / or mobile devices. The project was realized with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, and one VR glasses, with complete video and audio material, were given to the Tourism Organization of Serbia, for further promotion. The VR content will also be further promoted through the website, Facebook and Instagram profiles of the cultural route “Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route”. The materials were produced with the great help and support of the Tourism Organization of Sremska Mitrovica.
“Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route” is one of the 40 cultural routes of the Council of Europe, which currently passes through 9 countries and 2 geographical regions. The first is the Danube region and includes the following countries: Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. The other is Illyricum or the Adriatic region, which connects Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Let us remind you, “Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route” is the first cultural route of the Council of Europe that starts from Southeast Europe and goes to the rest of the continent and is one of the projects run by the Danube Competence Center.
